For those not familiar with the celebration, you choose a favourite quote from a Hoban book, write it on a piece of paper and put it in a public place. Then let the SA4QE webmaster know about it, and it will appear, as if by magic, on this site, along with the other 350+ quotes already '4qated' since 2002.

The BBC is to put every one of the 200,000 oil paintings in public ownership in the UK on the internet as well as opening up the Arts Council's vast film archive online as part of a range of initiatives that it has pledged will give it a "deeper commitment to arts and music". (Nearly all of Russell Hoban's books contain references to classic paintings and movies.)

In 2005 the first international convention for Russell Hoban fans took place in London, and was marked by the publication of a fantastic 48-page booklet featuring exclusive contributions from innumerable fans and associates including novelist David Mitchell and actress Glenda Jackson. A wonderful memento of the event, it's also a beautiful collector's item and must-have for any Hoban fan. Although in limited supply, copies of the booklet are still available at £6.00 each plus p&p.
