Lisa Jones 2010

Rather than leave my quotes in archetypically "New York" places, I thought it would make a more interesting photographic series to go about my evening normally and put them up randomly along the way, trying to evoke something of the mood and atmosphere of the quotes through the way I shot them.

Sometimes between two people it's as if one is a lock and the other is a key and they take turns being lock and key; but at other times it's as if both are keys or locks and nothing can be done.
- from Amaryllis Night and Day

More and more I find that life is a series of disappearances followed usually but not always by reappearances; you disappear from your morning self and reappear as your afternoon self; you disappear from feeling good and reappear feeling bad. And people, even face to face and clasped in each other's arms, disappear from each other.

In all, I'm very pleased with how they turned out.

Hope you like them! There are lots more in the slideshow below.

Cheers,

Lisa.

  1. Wonderful 4qation, Lisa! A mini-travelogue of your day to night journey.

Part of the wonder was seeing that, apparently, there is still a pay phone somewhere in NYC.

    Thanks for doing this!
