A couple of nice bits of Hoban news in recently. First, from 29 September until 16 October the Trouble Puppet Theatre Company in Austin, Texas is staging a version of Riddley Walker - with, as the theatre company name would suggest, puppets. Full details can be found on the Trouble Puppet site, while tickets can be booked from Brown Paper Tickets.
Meanwhile, in July those lovely people at Walker Books tweeted a photo of Russell Hoban meeting at their offices with legendary illustrator Quentin Blake on a new project. Walker didn't post any details about the project itself, so we'll just have to wait for further details. Blake and Hoban have collaborated a number of times before on books including Trouble on Thunder Mountain, Monsters and How Tom Beat Captain Najork and his Hired Sportsmen. Walker are due to publish Hoban's new young-adult book Soonchild in 2012.

In 2005 the first international convention for Russell Hoban fans took place in London, and was marked by the publication of a fantastic 48-page booklet featuring exclusive contributions from innumerable fans and associates including novelist David Mitchell and actress Glenda Jackson. A wonderful memento of the event, it's also a beautiful collector's item and must-have for any Hoban fan. Although in limited supply, copies of the booklet are still available at £6.00 each plus p&p.
